As pediatric occupational therapists (OTs) we are trained to assess and treat oral motor and feeding skills. Our OTs are highly experienced to assess and treat the many factors that can lead to feeding challenges whether it be physical, sensory or behavioral.
- Does your child have difficulty controlling their secretions (drooling).
- Does your child have difficulty taking in enough calories orally?
- Does your child cough or choke when drinking from a bottle/cup or while eating purees/solids.
- Are you finding it a challenge to encourage your child to transition from a bottle to a cup, to accept textures in their food or use a spoon/eating utensil?
- Is your child a picky eater or demonstrating aversive behavior to food or a negative behavior at meal times?
We can help. There are many factors which contribute to safe oral feeding. Our OTs are specialized in the ability to:
- Assess and treat oral motor skills
- Assess and treat oral feeding skills
- Assess and treat behavior, positioning and sensory processing issues which may impact oral feeding skills
- Provide recommendations for specialized equipment with respect to feeding
Please reach out to us if you would like to discuss any of the above.
